Matthew Lapaire

Matthew grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, and will always be drawn back to the beach. He played football at Hoggard High School, earning a top-10 GPA in his graduating class. He then went on to study Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University, eventually earning degrees in both ChE and Paper Science Engineering. After college, Matthew lived in Dothan, Alabama and worked for Georgia-Pacific Paper as a Process Engineer. This profit-driven work did not stimulate his desire to help people grow, and so he left engineering to pursue a career in education, first by volunteering to teach high school students in the African nation of Zambia. Matthew moved to Colorado in 2013, beginning as a Math Fellow at High Tech Early College. He then became a math teacher, and now teaches PLTW Engineering courses and leads the Robo-Lobo-Bellos robotics team at NEC. Mr. Lapaire lives in Aurora with his wife Amanda, who also taught at High Tech before the birth of their children.

Matthew still plays football in a local semi-pro full contact league, is constantly building new improvements for the house, and likes to spend time in the mountains with his dogs Sam and Willie.
