Dear Participating 9th Graders and Parents/Guardians,
I am excited for our upcoming 9th grade Academy starting August 3rd with a safe parade at our school from 2pm-5pm, followed by Online Courses the next day (Aug 4th) at 9am, live via our Interactive Schoology Course. I hope you are enjoying your summer and you are well rested and in good health. I want to share with you details about the upcoming NGA Fall 2020.
The Ninth Grade Academy for this year will be done remotely online and will need your active participation in the Interactive Schoology Course: https://schoology.dpsk12.org/course/2573119225/materials. You do not need a code to access this course.
You will meet live with your designated teacher from Tuesday (8/04) – Thursday (8/06) starting at 9 am, via the following links below. Make sure you join the correct link!

During the three days (Tue – Thursday), you will interact live/ and in writing via schoology discussion boards and meet your mentors and colleagues. Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded 2.5 elective credits towards your highschool career as part of our Wolfpack Family!

Monday 8/03 is a Special Day and we will wait for you from 2pm – 5pm to stop by our school, where you will be greeted by some of our wonderful Teachers and Administrators. We will meet you in person and you will receive some Wolfpack Swag such as: NEC Planners/NEC water bottle/T-Shirts/Stickers and necessary technology (Chromebooks/Internet Hot Spots as needed). We will have live music/balloons as you check out from Schoology/pick up your materials.
Tuesday 8/04 you will join the Schoology Course online and start with the Intro Discussion Board. At 9am you will join the google meeting video (provided in the link above), where you will meet your mentor and you will start to: Building a 9th grade Wolfpack Community with Social Emotional Support.
The morning live session will be from 9am -10:30 am and then followed by an afternoon session from 1pm-2pm. During Tuesday time, make sure you are completing all the Schoolgy Online Assignments created for you and reach out to your mentor with questions! Very Important: A project will be presented to you on this day and you will be expected to work on it (with another student/or small group) and the deadline will be Friday 8/07 by 3pm.
Wednesday 8/05 same outline as the previous day: you will join the Schoology Course online and start with the intro Discussion Board. At 9am you will join the google meeting video (provided in the link above), where your mentor is going to respond to your questions from Tuesday and then begin today’s work around: Equity/Anti – Racism/Cultural Responsive/Curriculum/Clubs
The morning live session will be from 9am -10:30 am and then followed by an afternoon session from 1pm-2pm. During Wednesday time, make sure you are completing all the Schoolgy Online Assignments created for you and reach out to your mentor with questions!
Thursday 8/06 You will join the Schoology Course online and start with the intro Discussion Board. At 9am you will join the google meeting video (provided in the link above), where your mentor is going to respond to your questions from Tuesday and then begin today’s work around: Learning about Career Connect/EC Programs etc

Friday 8/07 In Schoology, please make sure you complete the check out and submit the Project you worked on during the last couple of days by 3pm that day!

Note: In order for you to get 100% credit for NGA, you will need to fully complete all assignments in Schoology and participate in at least 2 out of the 3 days in live sessions. Monday’s safe parade is totally optional (due to COVID-19).
