Wolfpack families,
We began the year with the vision that all students would be part of a learning environment that focused on student responsibility in their own academic journey. This largely included the understanding of being on time to school, to class, and remaining in their assigned class during all periods of the day. As the semester ended, the Culture Team has reflected on the success of this culture shift at NEC. We would like to bring continued success to our students and families by providing you with the information you need to help your student succeed in the next semester, and the school years to come.
We began to document the amount of times each student was consistently in the hallways for extended periods of time with or without permission from a teacher. There were many students who were repeatedly asked to go back to class, to stay in class, and/or had to be walked back to class. We began this process in the month October, and the data is as follows. 127 students who were continuously in the hallway made up this list at NEC. Students were part of restorative practice conversations to guide them back to student responsibilities and expectations of remaining in class. Lunch detention was assigned to students who continued their habit of remaining in the hallways after restorative measures were taken, and others had progressive action taken with family involvement.
Moving forward into the next semester, the Culture Team will continue this practice at NEC. We ask that families remind their students the importance of their academic success at NEC; beginning with dedication to going and remaining in class. Teachers can best help students succeed when they are in the classroom taking advantage of the full classroom time to complete assignments. The Culture Team can best support your students when they are invested in their academic success. All teachers and support members at NEC will help your student thrive with your engagement.

Comenzamos el año con la visión de que todos los estudiantes serían parte de un ambiente de aprendizaje que se enfoca en la responsabilidad del estudiante en su propio viaje académico. Esto incluía en gran medida la comprensión de llegar a tiempo a la escuela, a clase y permanecer en su clase asignada durante todos los períodos del día. Al finalizar el semestre, el Equipo de Cultura reflexionó sobre el éxito de este cambio cultural en NEC. Nos gustaría traer el éxito continuo a nuestros estudiantes y familias brindándoles la información que necesitan para ayudar a su estudiante a tener éxito en el próximo semestre y en los próximos años escolares.
Comenzamos a documentar la cantidad de veces que cada estudiante estuvo constantemente en los pasillos durante largos períodos de tiempo con o sin el permiso de un maestro. Hubo muchos estudiantes a los que se les pidió repetidamente que regresaran a clase, que se quedaran en clase y/o tuvieron que ser caminados de regreso a clase. Este proceso lo iniciamos en el mes de Octubre, y los datos son los siguientes. 127 estudiantes que estaban continuamente en el pasillo conformaron esta lista en NEC. Los estudiantes formaron parte de las conversaciones de práctica restaurativa para guiarlos de regreso a las responsabilidades y expectativas de los estudiantes de permanecer en clase. La detención durante el almuerzo se asignó a los estudiantes que continuaron con su hábito de permanecer en los pasillos después de que se tomaron las medidas de restauración, y con otros tomamos medidas progresivas con la participación de la familia.
Avanzando hacia el próximo semestre, el Equipo de Cultura continuará con esta práctica en NEC. Pedimos que las familias les recuerden a sus estudiantes la importancia de su éxito académico en NEC; empezando por la dedicación a ir y permanecer en clase. Los maestros pueden ayudar mejor a los estudiantes a tener éxito cuando están en el salón de clases aprovechando el tiempo completo del salón de clases para completar las tareas. El Equipo de Cultura puede apoyar mejor a sus estudiantes cuando están comprometidos con su éxito académico. Todos los maestros y miembros de apoyo de NEC ayudarán a su estudiante a prosperar con su compromiso.
