Rebecca Smith (she/her/hers) is an English teacher and the 9th Grade Team Specialist at NEC. With nearly two decades of experience as an English educator, she has spent most of her career in Arizona before moving to Denver in 2021. Rebecca holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a focus on English, as well as master’s degrees in curriculum and educational administration from Arizona State University.
As a new member of the NEC community, Rebecca is excited about the opportunities that come with a smaller school environment, reminiscent of her upbringing in a small town. She values the close-knit community atmosphere that smaller schools can offer.
Outside of her professional life, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her partner, three teenage sons, and two dogs. She has a passion for the arts, particularly literature, poetry, and visual arts, and she is actively working on improving her fishing skills.
Born in Idaho and raised in Arizona, Rebecca has a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoys exploring nature with her family. As a student, she was very engaged in school culture, participating in student council and earning the titles of “class clown” and “most spirited” during her senior year.
Rebecca is eager to contribute to NEC and looks forward to building meaningful connections with students, colleagues, and the community. She believes in the power of education to inspire and empower young minds and is committed to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.
