Katine Eike (she/her/hers) loves science, and has extensive experience in the Chemistry classroom setting. She has taught math and science in DPS elementary and middle schools, and is very happy to have joined the NEC Science Department as a Chemistry Teacher. Her teaching experience includes five years as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at CU-Boulder in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, where she ended up running the T.A. program for the pre-med and pre-Engineering Introduction to Chemistry labs. Ms. Eike holds a Bachelor’s in Chemistry and Biochemistry from CU-Boulder (magna cum laude) and anticipates receiving her Master’s in Biochemistry this December 2024. One of the best parts of her job is preparing her students to go on to college science courses, and she is determined to send each student out the NEC door fully prepared to succeed in a STEM career. On a personal note, Ms. Eike is married with two adult children and two grandchildren. She has lived in Colorado for 40 years and enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, and exploring ghost towns and abandoned buildings in hidden areas of the state. She can often be found boarding a plane to visit her grandchildren in California, and she loves doing tiny kitchen “experiments” with them. She is planning to take a team of aspiring scientist to the 2025 DPS Science Fair and bring home the gold!
