Ariel Nieto (she/her) is the Learning Specialist for 9th and 10th grade at Northeast Early College. She earned both her Master’s in Special Education and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver. With a neuro-cognitive specialization, her approach is rooted in understanding how students think and learn. Before joining NEC, Ariel worked with the Special Education department at Mapleton Early Career Prep.
Driven by her passion for advocacy, Ariel serves as the Communication Chair for the Colorado Council for Exceptional Children, where she champions best practices in education and supports students with exceptional needs.
Originally from Hobbs, New Mexico, Ariel has made Denver her home for the past five years, where she lives with her husband, their four children, and their golden retriever, Ted. When she’s not in the classroom, you can find her tending to her garden, getting lost in a good book, or cheering on her kids at the softball field. Ariel also enjoys organizing community events, she has a soft spot for DIY home projects and is always looking for her next creative challenge.
